To register your nick with starchat:

First, login to starchat using the nick you want to register.

Then, type:
/msg NickServ REGISTER yourispemailaddress yourpassword
- type your email address where it says "youremailaddress"
- type the password you want to use where it says "yourpassword"

For your security, we recommend you use a password that is different from the one you use to login to your internet account

2) You will immediately be sent an email with an ACTIVATION CODE.
When this arrives, connect to Starchat with your registered nick and type:
/msg NickServ ACTIVATE activationcode

Your nick registration is NOT complete until you activate it!

To use a nick you've registered in starchat:

Login to Starchat with your registered, activated nick and type:

/msg NickServ ID yourpassword

This is known as "Identify."

If you're using regular IRC software (mIRC, Pirch or Ircle), you can set up this command in your software to be done automatically whenever you join Starchat.

Protecting your Starchat nick:

Set your nick so that if someone else tries to use it, they will be asked to Identify with the password as in the process above, or their nick will be changed. If you do not do this step, your nick will not be totally protected, even if it is registered.

> Identify yourself to NickServ with the process above, and...
> type:
/msg NickServ SET GUARD ON

To keep your Starchat nick registered:

Remember to logon and Identify to NickServ once every two
weeks and your nick will remain registered. If you know you are going to be away from your keyboard for longer than two weeks and you will be unable to Identify in that time, talk to a Starchat IRC Operator and ask them to put your nick "on vacation"... it will be held for you. Starchat IRC Operators can be found in #StarChat.
